Review

A good fun read that overlaps romance and mystery genre lines, blendin g them into a tale of romance and menacig evil. A conspiracy of nasties that will keep you reading this intriguing tale of an old house and its strange inhabitants. Spinster Caroline Hedley leaves her post as governess to visit an elderly relative who was reported deceased but no official word has been received of such an event by her relatives and heirs. They mystery deepens when Ms Hedley is told she can't see her aunt. However, a kindly lawyer takes a hand and forces the old woman's servants to admit Caroline. On his depature, Caroline finds herself considered an intruder by the servants and the dark aura of the house deepens. She wins the battle with the steward to see her aunt and almost wishes she hadn't. Recommended by a very satisfied reader as a story to hold your attention to the end with plenty of mystery and surprises awaiting you. Great reading for a dark and stormy night.
