Review

The first book in what promises to be a series of fun reading with loads of action and characters who will make you look forward to the next tale by this talented author. An enjoyable trip to another planet where a variety of problems confront the people in this story, problems guaranteed to keep you reading. What looks like a simple problem of chasing down a base of the Gen'gineers for the Scouts led by Captain Ian Fieran becomes very complex once he meets Miranda whose family heads the colony government on Chorillan. Miranda has gone into the wilds of Chorillan to find a missing child, Ranny, and Ian promises to look for her while his crew searches for the Gen'gineers base. The Scouts learn the colony has secrets kept hidden from outsiders, secrets that hinder the colony's development and future. Determined to find the answers once he had dealt with more than one set of villains on the planet, Ian finds himself thinking of hisown future and his suppressed longing for a family. Realistic characters set in a well-drawn background pull the reader along as they step off the printed page. As old questions are resolved, new mysteries present themselves and the reader will find themselves looking forward to the next book to see how they are resolved. A delightful adventure of the heart with promise of more to come. Enjoy.
