This is an adorable story about a pilot stranded in the desert who meets an extraordinary Little Prince of a tiny planet far, far away. The Prince`s character, and description of his planet, unfold throughout the book, along with a lot of wisdom.

I have no idea why I like this story. I`m used to great literature, and while I`m not saying this isn`t great literature, I don`t really like fairy tales. But this is sort of a fairy tale for adults. It`s very adorable, amusing, and thought provoking.

The story, along the way, shows a variety of adults, seen through the eyes of childhood. A tippler, a geographer, a businessman, a king, and others are described with an amazing clarity and depth of thought.

The ending is sad, though it`s difficult to put your finger on exactly what it is. It`s a whimsical, charming story, revealing a lot about children, adults, and just life in general. In one word, I call it beautiful.

There is a lot of wisdom hidden under this story. It is mixed with the plot and enriches the whole thing. I definitely recommend this story to the young, (but not too young) the young at heart, and anybody with nothing to do on a rainy afternoon with time to drive to your local library or bookstore. Read it!!
