Review

Our little hero, Harry and his bear, Charles Edward Bear travel to Plugovia, which is the land beneath the bathtub drain. In Plugovia animals talk and sing funny rhymes. They meet Sleuth, a toad detective who helps them find their way home. On the journey they encounter water rat pirates, shrews and a wise old raccoon that directs them to the enchantress.

Humorous, imaginative and simply written this book would be ideal for children of all ages. The illustrations by Simon O’Rourke help tell the story and add humor, however this reviewer would like to have seen more color in the illustrations to make it more appealing to the younger children. An easy read for children 8-12.

David Hills, the author who writes under the pseudonym GranDad David, is a parent and grandparent whose vivid imagination has entertained his own children and grandchildren as well as several neighborhood and family friends. Watch for more adventures from this author.
