You can go home again - in memory. And that is what talented author Lad Moore does in this collection of short stories about his youth. The joy is that he is willing to take the reader back in time with him. Remembered love and remembered pain are mingled on these pages, waiting to be relived and shared with others, and perhaps opening a door in your own memory of things past. Go frog gigging with him and his friends on a lazy river after dark and find what falls from the heavens. Take that long, terrifying walk at his side on the first day of school. Attend classes aboard ship for a year with Lad and his brother. Work at his side as he joins his uncle's circus for the summer. Meet his adventuresome pilot father for whom the book is named. Cherished memories linger on these pages as Lad grows from boyhood into young manhood, memories that will evoke the reader's own past with a gentle nostalgia, linking author and reader in the timelessness that is life. A highly recommended book that any reader will enjoy. You might find yourself reading it more than once.
