One day in the fifth grade young Jeana Russell swallows her fear and takes center stage to read a prize-winning poem. Unbeknownst to her, three separate boys in the audience watching her are sharing the same thought - one day, "she's going to be my girl." It's a promise each one makes to himself, though not one a boy that age will readily admit aloud.

Fast forward to high school, and Jeana is the resident genius. Wade Strickland, football star, lives to annoy Jeana at every opportunity. Billy Joe Dubose, Jeana's neighbor and best friend, is always around to offer a sympathetic shoulder and a body to fill the extra seat at the Russells' dinner table. But it is Mickey Royal, the new boy in class, returning to Alabama after years of exile, who ignites a passion Jeana never before has felt. Unbeknownst to her, these are those same boys who admired her from afar all those years ago, and still do.

Jeana, however, can only choose one, and her decision leaves an indelible mark on the quartet throughout the rest of their high school days and into college. When Jeana finds herself in a precarious situation, her sacrifices serve to exemplify her love for the one boy who admired her from afar; her love is true.

Author Scarbrough writes from the heart in True Blue Forever, a sweet story of friendship and heartbreak, first love and enduring friendship.
