"On my own behalf...I would like to say that I didn`t know going in that I was dealing with the original Ice Princess. You should have warned me that you`ve got a little problem in that department. Who knows? With some extra time and effort, I might have been able to thaw you out."
--Jack Fairfax, idiot
In the six months since he crassly insulted Elizabeth Cabot by referring publicly to her one night stay in his bed, Jack Fairfax has had plenty of time to regret his self-protective dig at Elizabeth`s sexuality. After all, she controls the purse strings of his business capital and the developmental Soft Focus project, a cutting edge crystal due to revolutionize laser tech-nology.
When Soft Focus disappears during an attack of vandalism on the lab, Jack is forced to enlist Elizabeth`s cooperation in a) keeping the disappearance a secret, and b) helping locate the missing lab worker believed to have taken the crystal. Jack has had six long months to realize Elizabeth is the woman he`s dreamed about for years, and his injured ego caused him to lash out at her. Elizabeth thinks he`s lower than pond scum and will only work with him if he keeps his comments and his hands to himself.
Krentz provides another fast-paced business thriller/romance in her usual style. However, the extreme antagonism between the proponents offers a twist fans won`t be expecting, and their road to romance is rockier than usual.
[Note: Krentz writes historical romances as Amanda Quick and futuristic romances as Jayne Castle.]
