Everyone knows that the hero somehow must overcome impossible odds to defeat the villain. Also what seems as a universal truth is that for recognition of heroic status, one needs an acceptable powerful foe to defeat. Think Luke vs. Vader (fight I), Ali vs. Liston, Superman vs. Luther, or Holmes vs. Moriarity. Each one of these legends needed to conquer a super villain before fans bestowed hero status on them.

VILLAINS VICTORIOUS explores a different ending where the villain is victorious. Before anyone cries for the Fantastic IV and thinks another an alternative tale, this anthology works because the star albeit an evil person, seems real even as each one kicks butt instead of losing. The authors seem to have fun with this premise as they all let their imagination run free to provide the reader with a strong anthology that contains fourteen glorious VILLAINS VICTORIOUS stories.
