The romance of the old west is alive and well in this fun romance of two people from very different backgrounds who are thrown together when Josh Crandal is literally thrown from a circus wagon. He wanders into the camp of Harriet Goodspell and her two traveling companions whose wagon has broken down. His clown costume is all Josh has to wear until the ladies provide him with clothes from their poor box and food. In return, he tries to fix their wheel and winds up more involved than he planned. Josh finds himself thinking about his well-to-do family in Savannah, Georgia, and the girl he left behind, wondering if he's ready to return home. It is a difficult decision, because he has grown to love the rugged land of the west, in spite of all its dangers. Harriet has convinced herself that her sole purpose in life is spreading the word, yet she finds herself thinking of their unexpected traveling companion in unexpected ways that bring a blush to her cheeks. But no matter the distractions, she will not be deterred from her purpose.A fun read for the romance reader, a tale that offers something better than the usual formula plot, a story you will enjoy because you'll enjoy meeting the characters whose personalities are varied and well drawn. Recommended for a pleasant change from the norm. Enjoy.
