Murder in the old west as told by talented Mark Bredt takes me back to childhood when I could boo the villains and love the heroes (and their horses). It holds true to the atmosphere and mystery of an era we can only know through books and entertainment which makes Candlespike Murders a fun read worthy of any mystery lovers time. Men will kill each other for reasons only they know.
So Charles Fairfax, an English gentleman transplanted to the old west, learns when he finds the body of a childhood friend on the road.
A visit by mysterious men to his home, an attempt on his own life and other violence draw Charles deep into an investigation of these events. What he learns and the red herrings author Mark Bredt drops into the well-plotted mix will keep you happily reading. Recommended as a mystery you won't want to miss with characters you'll enjoy meeting. You'll be looking for this talented author's other books. Enjoy.
